Being in the "Pride & Joy" show at Chad Mize Gallery is one of the highlights for me this summer! Super talented Chad Mize and the "Pride & Joy" show is an awesome exhibit of great national and local talent and is a powerful display. There's always something to see here and worth the visit - check out Chad Mize here: http://www.chadmize.com/
Earlier today I had a chance to update the Gallery and decided to offer a few very special pieces from my personal collection to the Online gallery. Several pieces are very special to me and have some special meaning - and have done very well in print sales. I think every artist at some point as a collection grows allows some cherished pieces to be offered for sale for interested art lovers.
More pieces will be added in the next few weeks - as well as new prints - so please check back from time to time to see what is new - and old is new again! April was a great planning month and a lot of background work for a new tab on the website. In case you haven't noticed - now there's a shop. Consider this a soft opening to the Gallery. There's new art work on the way - as well as other products that I think you will enjoy! There's more shows coming soon as well. More posts coming in the next few days!
March certainly was a busy month. I changed up my style a bit and experimented with different techniques and subjects. Focused more on the male physique, the entries were well received this year albeit a somewhat different audience.
It will be interesting next year to revisit last year's subjects and this year's techniques to create something altogether different. Now, what to do for the the summer shows?
What do you do when one of your favorite shirts gets accidently bleached or stained? Do you throw it away OR try to save it? This shirt was a navy colored shirt with a great texture and I couldn't bear losing it. So, with a spray bottle filled with a 50/50 water bleach mix - I gave it an interesting pattern to hide the accidental bleach stain, Once dry, I applied some Golden transparent colors in various washes and intensity. VOILA! A really cool look and an all new fashion to wear. It was bound to happen - any artist will tell you that paint ends up on their clothes - why not embrace it and make it haute art coulture?
Here's an update on the hallway project I mentioned a few weeks ago. I'm half way through the project - creating custom artwork prints for condominium common areas. Much of the artwork is showcasing our local Tampa scenery from my own photos. The finished artwork is printed on Kodak Endura metallic ultra premium paper and matted and framed to adorn the hallways and common spaces of a local community. There's more art to come, so stay tuned here and also prints will be available under the SHOP button.
